Tsearch for PostgreSQL 8.4

From our TODO list:

• DONE: Wildcard search ( a*b ) using permuted word GIN index (in expense of the size). See http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-patches/2008-04/msg00129.php
• DONE: GIN fast online update - 2 weeks
• DONE: GIN multicolumn support - 2 weeks
• DONE: GIN not only equality search, GIN prefix search support - 4 weeks, see http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-patches/2008-04/msg00129.php
• DONE: Index support for wildcard search in LIKE operator
• DONE: added support of Devanagari script ( nepali language)
• DONE: prefix search in text search ( to_tsquery('son:*') ). See blog message for synonym dictionary enhancement
• DONE: filter dictionary support in text search
• DONE: unaccent filtering dictionary ( finally, solved problem with accents and headline !)

The bottom line for text search are:

• now GIN index is usable in fast changing environment (in the past we recommended GiST index)
• you can use prefix search in queries, like to_tsquery('supernov:*a & stars') and it costs nothing !

We also plan to work on flexible management of dictionaries, incomplete search.
